Dr. Amato received the graduate degree in Electronics Engineer from Universidad Tecnológica Nacional, Córdoba, Argentina, in 2004, and the M.Sc. degree in computer vision and artificial intelligence from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain, in 2007; in 2012 he received his Ph.D. degree in computer science also from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. In 2013 he was awarded by the MIT Technology Review ”Innovator younger than 35 who are driving the next generation of technological breakthroughs” for the Knowxel project. Knowxel is a mobile-based crowdsourcing platform conceived to perform under a dual (human-machine) interaction. Knowxel follows a crowdsourcing/crowdfunding philosophy; it is: users are not in the platform just to be economically rewarded, but because of their engagement in charitable/altruistic behavior.
